I don't get much of the hype for it. It looks like just a bunch of dotfiles wrapped in an instaler, is there anything else more to it or that's just it?

openSUSE is my current distro. A family member surprised me with this cute little S.u.S.E. enamel pin for Christmas!

Admittedly, I'm quite green with Linux; I've been on Windows since age 4 and my first Linux install was as recent as November of 2025. Despite that, my experience with Linux has already been far better than my experience with Windows. I'll never go back, Linux has been a complete upgrade for all of my use cases.

Omarchy is a really shitty install script loaded with closed-source corpo garbage and nothing of any innovation or use that can't be reproduced on any other distro, with software that is likely lighter-weight and non-proprietary. DHH, the alleged "creator" of Omarchy is also a worthless Danish nazi and I spare no expense in sharing that knowledge, read the article below.

I'm on Cachy with my laptop and I'm not 100% sure how I feel. I really liked Fedora, but I think Arch might be better... However, I'm finding software that is only available for Debian or Fedora... now, AUR takes care of most of this stuff... and I love that you can build most stuff, but take something like this: https://bibisco.com. The community edition is free, but it's not open source, so I can't build it. I'm starting to wonder if it'll be easier to just run the Windows version in wine. Anyway, I don't daily drive... yet. All these age verification schemes might drive me to switching my main desktop... eventually.

@Grafo love the look of that desktop. How do those window managers work on multi-monitor setups?

The one I use is Niri and it pretty much works out of the box. Right now I'm mostly on my laptop because I moved and half of my setup is still in a box but anything you want to know about it just let me know

Pretty sure Niri was already made as a window mgr specifically for multi-monitor setups, so it's likely the best choice on Wayland in that case. Sway is fine if you're used to i3wm already.

I have pretty converted all my computers, with the exception of one, to Linux. I have a mix of Ubuntu, Linux Mint, and Arch boxes currently.

I need to get off my butt and get my main desktop converted but I'm thinking about selling my nVidia GPU to get an AMD card to hopefully help. This box is basically 90% gaming at this point and it's the only reason I haven't converted it yet.
