Old man here. I'm a art director/designer in real life. Which means I spend a lot of my time being creative for other people's projects. Recently my employment situation changed and I have more creative energy to put towards my own. I have random ideas for video games, both in mechanics and looks. I have ideas for ttrpg mechanics. I have personal pixel art projects. I might have the odd professional project I want to show to people outside my network. The list goes on. None of the ideas I mentioned are a whole project, but they aren't doing anyone any good just sitting in my brain.

I came to easymode through the youtube channel, but I joined easymode for multiple reasons. Mainly because as a "creative hub" it hasn't specialized itself into a specific niche. (only video games, only ttrpg, only pixel art, etc) I get the impression from Ward that he wants to create a place that is shaped by the people who use it. Good design and good community building are the same thing. Let the people show you how they use a thing and make that thing easier to use. That's it.

Also, the fact that despite me being your bog-standard old white male, I prefer to hang out in spaces that are more than welcoming (and when necessary, accommodating) to a broader range of people. I have my own reasons for that I might get into in conversations when they happen. This, combined with the lack of an algo means it's less likely to become a mono-culture.

I tried using the previous iteration of easymode, and while I thought it was interesting and novel, I probably wouldn't have got much out of it. This will be a lot better.

Hey everyone, thanks for reading this! I've been trying to find an active forum that I can get into for a while now, just like all of us. Other sites such as Reddit, while they have their uses never seemed to garner a community I wished to be part of. I'm hoping now, I've found that community.
I play on basically any system you can imagine from the 90s onward. I've been a bit of a collector on and off for the past 15 years but I'm now after becoming a farther for the first time a couple years back I've decided to downsize a lot of my collections to be more intentional, only games I have a history with or have an emotional attachment to rather than owning for the sake of owning.
Well, that is a very brief introduction of myself, I hope to speak to you all in the forum

Some of you may remember me from the earlier days of easymode.im, as with all social media I'm not very good at it and stopped visiting as much as I'd like. I much prefer the old days of forums and IRC, so here I am :smile:

I'm a stay-at-home dad to a child with learning disabilities and I spend too much time playing videogames.

What's up gamers, I go by cryzona and irl I work in cybersec and spend a lot of time working on various creative projects including youtube, music, and also homebrewing fine ales. I spend most of my time with my three cats and enjoy a wide variety of games from early 2000s to some modern multiplayer ones. My name is Di, but I more or less lean towards "Rose" as my online name since it's been a part of my handles for a long time.
I'm 31, Transfem, and I was part of the original version of the site once upon a time ago, but life got ahead of me. I'm hoping to get back in that sense of community again, as I do genuinely miss being around others that root for ya even if they aren't into what you're into.
I write a LOT, it's probably one of the few things that keep me mellow in this crazy times, right now it's mostly fan fics, but I've been on and off writing an Urban Fantasy, that I hope to one day finish and put out there for the world to maybe see.
I'm boring as hell, so I'm hoping it's not a bother to anyone when I'm able to contribute to conversations that it's not as... Interesting as everyone else's!

Hi everyone! It feels so nice to join a forum once again.
Here is some stuff about me: I'm from Argentina but I've been living on the US for 6 years for now. When I was a kid I loved reading PC magazines and reading about games that looked amazing but I couldn't play (I got my first PC much later) so from time to time I like to remember those games and try them out now that I can.
Nowsdays, when I'm done with work, I like to mess around with Linux, old games and practice with my violin from time to time . :mrgreen:

Hey! Been a busy week of moving for me so I'm just now getting around to doing this. I wanna thank @ward again for setting this up. I'm really excited to be back on a bona fide forum and to get to connect with all the cool new people here!

My name is Christian. I spent a large part of my childhood playing video games, but that opened up the path for me to really love music, movies, art, and especially computers. My dad helped me build my first computer for my 13th birthday and since then, it's all I've really wanted to do.

Nowadays, I live with my finacee--my childhood friend of 10+ years--and our 4 cats. We play games, watch movies, do tarot readings, talk about musicals, and generally just have fun together. We recently opened up to being poly, so it's been an interesting transition, but it's made me appreciate the relationships I have in my life a lot more.

Hello! I was on the Fedi instance but not incredibly active. It's cool to see we're doing forums again, it brings back teenage nostalgia :lol:

I'm in my 30's, I do printing industry stuff for a day job and art and internet stuff as a hobby. Gaming-wise I love monster collectors and management sims. I'm also a linux user and like to mess around with open source software. I have two cats, two birds and a husband. Nice seeing everyone!

I am Plakspin, I am from northern Finland.

I work as a programmer but like retro computing as a hobby. My formative / teenage years where in the nineties so games from that era are the best, and this is fact.

Some games that made an everlasting impression on me where Deus Ex (not very original I know), Thief, and Outcast. I regular replay these and am still not done with Thief whats with all the fan content.

I believe in the dead internet theory and think it is real and now. I like the more human simpler times of computers and the internet. Back when computers where there to employer you, to educate you, as a tool to think and create, a tool to amplify humanity. In the current mainstream that seems gone. I really think we lost something great and a becomes dumber because of it.

But there are still great things! Using purely free and open source software and easy available hardware we can now create just about anything. In my spare time I am working on my own 16 bit computer. With its own custom CPU and everything. It isn't really presentable yet but the fact that as a sole person with a tiny budget we can now accomplish what would have taken a multinational with hundreds of employees in the eighties is amazing!

The fact that I can buy and own so many games on places like GOG and be able to play them without Windows is amazing!

The fact that I have access to a vast amount of humanities knowledge at my finger tips is amazing!

We are actually so empowered, we can build, learn and accomplish so much, but for some reason we don't make use of it and instead use these same machines to wither away. I would like to change that in myself.
