UPDATE: I have found a solution to on screen weapon placement using high FOVs. Download and install this mod to your quake 3 arena folder: https://clover.moe/flexible-hud-for-ioq3/

Copy and paste this code into your console, using whatever FOV you prefer. I use 110.

I'll "fix that jack knife onto my mantelpiece" after I get some sleep. Tis handy tho

Now that the server allows clientside mods "sv_pure 0" I have set a password on the server to discourage cheating. I don't expect anyone here will do that, but I have set one anyway. The server password is: open console and type when you are connecting. You can also use with it instead of using the specific button.
I have also listed it in the primary post. Enjoy.
