Today I found a retro game shop close to my home and got some PS2 games Image
Out of the 3 Ridge Racer is the one I never play before but I know it trough the OST wich is fantastic.
Let's use this tread also for general PS2 talk (\ ゚ヮ゚)/

I'm gonna lurk here. I picked up a PS2 for DVDs movies ... never actually gamed on it. I do have some Metal Gear games (2 and 3 I think)... and there's a ton of JRPGs around here. Oh, and I have ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. I feel like I missed out on something huge, but I don't even know where to start. I did like the Soul Caliber games. Played the first one a ton on DC.

Recently I picked up a ps2 again, I still have all my games from its hayday, I think its safe to say I'll be keeping those for a long time. For now, does anyone have any recommendations for a up converter? Looking for for something that'll smooth out the jagged edges in games, if that is possible.

I loved playing Soulcalibur 3 on the PS2. It was a solid fighting game, but my favorite part was the weird RTS like mode that would lead to fights. I don't think they brought back for any future games but I liked it. I'm pretty sure I still have my copy of SC3 but all my PS2 stuff is at my friends house back home.

I'd love to setup a cozy 90s retro corner, finding a CRT in my rural Tx area for a not super gouged price hasn't been very fruitful. With time effort and gas and possibly hurting myself to go pickup the once in a blue moon giant ones I've seen it just hasn't seemed worth it quite yet. I'm gonna ask around soon maybe if anybody has a small one in storage or if their parents/grandparents have one they don't use. I should have just ordered a ~13-14in one off ebay a year ago when they could be had with shipping for.... $60-70ish lol... but people swore that's a recipe for disaster and they always break during shipping etc. I don't even "have" to have a fancier one with S-Video or anything on it, I had good results in the 360 era getting a radioshack RF modulator with S-video on it, it was a night and day difference on Dead Space going from RF adapter to that

Big fan of the PS1/PS2 era, RPG's, shooters, horror, and some racing and action too (≖‿≖) , I grew up on console, I didn't have my own pc until my senior year of high school, the school was getting rid of old ones and was giving them away, got a laptop later on, then built a gaming pc at the end of 2012.

Really been feeling older and retro stuff rather than chasing shiny new graphics in cutting edge releases for awhile now. Wish I had of grabbed stuff up before it went up in price

The PS2 is the last console I can say that I have a nostalgic attachment to. I had a Wii and eventually an Xbox 360, but those were mostly used by my younger sister. I got a ps2 pretty late into its lifespan...I wanna say 2006 or 2007? Anyway, I was able to get tons of great games for super cheap during my adolesence. I was still buying games for it until 2011 or so. ICO, Shadow of the Collossus, Okami, Final Fantasy 10, Beyond Good and Evil, Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance....there's so many great games that came out for that thing...I'm gonna have to fire up the emulator soon. It's been too long.

Would be interested to hear what people recommend here too, I don't use my PS2 that much because of how bad it looks on my TV and I'm not aware of any reasonably priced scalers that handle deinterlacing well.

The same for me, and it was the first time i got a "current" console in a long time. Before it I was still playing with the Sega Genesis.

The old Armored Cores are fantastic if you're into managing lots of stats and mechs. AC 2 Another Age and 3 i think are the best from that era.

If you're able to find a copy, take a look at Way of the Samurai 2. It's a super broken weird sword fighting/rpg... thing. They're goofy fun I don't know how else to describe them lol You collect different types of weapons and each has it's own fighting style and are all VERY different to master.

Heard very good things about Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance 1+2 and Champions of Norrath+Norrath Return to Arms, watched a vid on the first Norrath and genuinely felt bad I never played any of them before, seemed really well regarded. I did hear of them all back in the day, I was just into other stuff/didn't have the funds at the time as a kid, might sit down and grind them soon
