What are you watching?
This is a thread to talk about whatever anime/s (or animated works in general) you are in the process of watching right now. Share your thoughts on them, as well, if you want to.
As for me, I've been watching a few animes in a friend group and one by myself:
We just finished up "Haibane Renmei" and are about to finish "The Twelve Kingdoms". Both are excellent, IMO.
We're keeping up on "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End S2", the first season of which was my anime of the year for 2024.
Additionally, we'll be starting "Kuuchuu Buranko" next week.
The anime I've been watching on my own is "Journal with Witch", and it has been wonderful enough that I think it might beat Frieren S2 for me this year.
So that's my current list, how about you?

Re: What are you watching?
Not an anime (sorry), but my partner and I have started watching a silly animated comedy called The Great North. It's about a family in Alaska. We finished the first season earlier today and enjoyed it quite a bit. It's a pretty lighthearted and zany show. Good show to just kinda get cozy and enjoy some hi-jinx
Re: What are you watching?
How is Haibane Renmei? It's been on my list for the art and the premise, but I've been watching very goofy stuff (probably due to the state of the world).candle wrote: Mar 7th, '26, 07:08 This is a thread to talk about whatever anime/s (or animated works in general) you are in the process of watching right now. Also, Twelve Kingdoms was awesome. I wish they had more time to develop the side stories... I could have watched more.
I also recently finished Frieren season 1.
Spoiler
Spoiler just because off-topic rant... I am waiting for the whole S2 before I watch it... I like to watch on the treadmill. I had several false starts with season 1. I have a VERY hard time with the lack of emotions in the show. I do understand stoicism, I'm generally stoic in bad situations... but sometimes it's hard for me because the characters respond to insane situations with dead eyes... I guess Stark is a bit wilder. Anyway, I really like Frieren... she's a little gremlin/monster (in a good way). Fern is fun too when she gets in a huff... I got into an argument with someone who told me that I don't understand real emotions and I should go watch Shonen, but I don't think that's it. I think the lack of emotion (externally displayed) connects with a certain type of person who may be similar in that they experience things but just do not react normally... it's just weird to me that almost every character responds to things like this... For instance, when the dude got cut in half in front of a crowd... I've seen stronger reactions over spilled tea. From what I've seen in previews, it looks like the characters in Season 2 emote more with their eyes and faces, so that will help a lot... and it is VERY high on my list. I did like it enough to come back and finish it... and I think Frieren is one of the most likeable characters in modern memory.... You know, maybe I should have waited longer to watch it after watching Slayers, lol.For reference... my favorites from 2025 were (in this order) Kowloon Generic Romance, Kaiju No. 8 S2, Rock Is a Lady's Modesty, Ruri Rocks, & City.
So, what am I watching now? Cathode Ray Dude on YT, lol... and 2 episodes of Bofuri every day while eating... It's way more fun than expected. Highly recommended... It's not on Frieren's level for characters and story, but it's stupid fun if you like litRPG-style stuff:

And @Casey I'm curious about The Great North now too... was just watching Northern Exposure last week, so this would be a good follow-up.
Re: What are you watching?
@ward Cathode Ray Dude is one of my favorite YT channels, good stuff. I could watch that guy all day...Bofuri sounds really fun. I'll have to put that on my list.

I've been rewatching Outlaw Star for like the 10th time. I did start S2 of Frieren and watched the first few episodes but I wasn't really paying attention and will probably watch them again.

Haven't seen Outlaw Star...but Clanclan reminds me of Fam a little (from Ruin Explorers Fam & Ihrie)... It's like another Slayers.the_skotts wrote: Mar 9th, '26, 05:51 I've been rewatching Outlaw Star for like the 10th time. I started to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion, I have not seen it before. I'm really enjoying the animation and just overall vibe of the show so far. I'm pretty early in though.

I loved Outlaw Star so much. Watched Toonami every day back in the day after school running home from the bus lol. I can't watch DBZ without the Faulconer Funimation soundtrack, it's just not the same at all for me.the_skotts wrote: Mar 9th, '26, 05:51 I've been rewatching Outlaw Star for like the 10th time. I've been catching up on tons of movies/shows the past few years I missed over the years, been thinking of diving into a couple highly rated anime that aren't super long.
