Talk about your favorite YouTube channels here.
The modern internet is a hellscape, but I still find myself watching a lot of stuff on youtube. Sure, there's a lot of sludge there like anywhere else on the web these days, but there's a ton of great stuff out there. Let's talk about some of our favorite channels!
I'll post replies in this thread later talking about some other favs, but the first I wanna mention here is Cathode Ray Dude. This guy is awesome. He makes incredibly thorough videos about all sorts of interesting retro technology. He's the only channel I've ever subbed to on patreon and haven't let the subscription lapse at some point. His Quick Start series is my favorite, but I'll leave this banger of a video here:
So, let's talk about youtube! Share your favorite channels. Why do you like them? What are your favorite videos of theirs?

CRD is awesome. It's really weird that I can watch him while on the treadmill and not feel the time go by.
I'll keep with the theme and post my other favorite in this style... Technology Connections:

I love CRD and Technology Connections. I got another Midwesterner and friend of TC
He and I share a similar taste in cars, the weird ones.

CRD and TC are great! The TC dishwasher videos are some of my favorites and I've tried to convince several people to switch away from the detergent pods because of them lol
One of my favorites is Internet Shaquille. He does cooking videos but usually don't go over a specific recipe and instead covers the basic idea of something or how to do a thing. He also just gets right to the point so the videos are like all under 10 minutes.

These are all superb picks so far!
My favorite is Accursed Farms, the channel of Ross Scott. Nowadays he's probably most well-known for spearheading the Stop Killing Games movement which has recently been making incredible moves in California and in the EU, as well as for creating the Freeman's Mind series of videos.
Ross's Game Dungeon is my go-to comfort watch material. It's like sittin' down with a big tub of cookie dough & brownie chunk icecream.

Man I ABSOLUTELY love Rossman. Between the Game Dungeon, Freemans Mind, and what got me hooked, Civil Protection. Just great content and an overall great fella. I hope to buy him a drink someday.Virtua Wug wrote: May 27th, '26, 10:09 These are all superb picks so far!

Kinda in the same vein another gaming YouTube I greatly enjoy is MandaloreGaming. His storytelling is pleasant and entertaining while I can relate to his humor quite well. This is probably one of my if not my favorite video from him. You literally watch him go mad as he goes through the game, it's mint.

One of my favorite educational channels is Branch Education. The amount of detail they go into for a topic is insane. Paired with their fantastic demonstrations and animation makes them easily one of my favorite things to suggest to folks that may not understand a certain technology topic.

Grimbeard is one of my favorites for games, unmatched vibes and I appreciate the attention given to the developers themselves that reviews (even longer ones) tend to gloss over a lot of the time.

Robin really has this cozy, almost old school youtube vibe I just love. https://www.youtube.com/@8_Bit
Civvie11 is a must if you love retro games and FPS. His insight and humor are a rare gem on youtube these days. His stuff is so good I tend to save up new videos and binge them all at once. https://www.youtube.com/@Civvie11

Y'all are giving me a lot of stuff to check out...how on earth did I miss technology connections?? Gonna check a lot of these out...
@skullmeat 8 bit show and tell especially intrigues me because I have very little knowledge of computers from that era.
Speaking of old school youtube vibes, time for another channel recommendation from me. Vwestlife has been making videos since the early days of youtube and shows no signs of slowing down. He rejects sleek production and high budgets, instead opting for what I would consider a much cozier style....this video goes into his production process and kinda sums up his channel as a whole.
