Futurama is brilliant

Over the weekend I finished re-watching Futurama with my partner.* It was his first time with it and goddamn, it holds up really well. There's a couple of shitty jokes in there but for the most part it doesn't punch down. The pop culture humor can date the show in some ways but the clever writing and attention to detail really make up for it. The retrofuturism vibes are immaculate, the humor is fun and silly, and the continuity is awesome, especially for an animated episodic comedy.

Who else liked this show? Thoughts?

*we only watched through season 7...I know it recently got another revival but I haven't heard good things and I felt like that finale ended the series pretty perfectly.

I just started re-watching last week. Up to Season 7 now as a matter of fact. It's so strange watching it go from 4:3 to 16:9 considering I've only ever seen it in the former lol. It's still great! I've been thinking about picking up the first 8 seasons box set but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

@rot my partner was taken aback by the show going 16:9 too! I never thought much of it...the, for lack of a better word, more polished look of later seasons was more difficult for me to get used to.

@chiefterror lol that clip is tremendous. That entire 'what if' segment is fantastic. Leela eating Zoidberg and offering some to Fry gets me every time.
